How to treat pediculosis at home, if medications can not always be used

how to treat head lice
how to treat head lice

Good day. A couple of years ago I had to deal with an unpleasant problem.

The daughter in the kindergarten picked up pediculosis from another girl. I managed to quarrel with the parents of that girl, but I had to solve my difficulties on my own.

I removed lice from my daughter’s hair using a proven method without causing any particular inconvenience. Want to know how to treat head lice? Why not pull with action? In the article below I will describe in detail the effective ways that really help.

Self-treatment for lice and nits at home

Pediculosis - this is the name of the disease, which causes inconvenience to everyone, regardless of their status and lifestyle.

Important!
You can get it in the bathhouse and in the swimming pool, the sports section in the locker room, in the train car and hotel room through the pillow, in the hairdresser through the comb, hairpin, in the store trying on headgear, jewelry and things, during selfie photography.

Dysfunctional sections of the population, homeless people, street children are most susceptible to infection.

This disease is caused by blood-sucking ectoparasites - lice. Pediculosis is divided into: head, pubic, clothes - treatment of each of them has its own characteristics.

The life cycle of lice consists of 3 stages: a sexually mature individual, a female or a male - nits - a nymph - a sexually mature individual. From the nits (eggs), a nymph (an immature individual) hatches, which in the second week becomes an adult and begins to lay off its nits. Lice feed on blood and die without a "master" within 10 days.

It is not easy to see lice among the hair - they are dark brown in color, with an average size of about 1.5-3 mm, but their light eggs sticking to the hair are easily distinguishable.

In order to remove living individuals at once, there are many effective ways, but choosing nits is a very painstaking task, since they are firmly glued to each hair. In this case, the AntiV comb with thin frequent steel teeth and special sharp notches on them will be most useful, which allows the treatment of pediculosis in one procedure.

The comb is used with a mechanical method of treatment, it facilitates the process of combing out adult lice, damages the strong shell of nits and breaks them.

The causes of the spread of lice and nits

Most often, pediculosis occurs and requires treatment in children, due to frequent close contacts during communication, games.

Advice!
A wide circle of communication and pastime in close educational and entertainment institutions contribute to the rapid avalanche-like spread of the disease.

To prevent an epidemic and personal protection, prophylactic sprays and shampoos based on herbs that repel lice are increasingly being used. Such a protective measure is effectively shown in practice in groups of kindergartens, school classes, boarding schools and summer camps.

Varieties of the disease and ways of infection with it

The first - head lice - develops in the hair on the head and may appear as a result of contact with an already infected person, or with his hat, cap, hood, comb and other household items.

The disease speaks more about a low hygienic culture of a person, uncleanliness, unsanitary conditions in which he is located, because with daily washing of the head, lice do not have time to multiply and are removed naturally.

The best conditions for the development of the disease are long, tangled hair, curled locks, braided braids. Head lice only crawl, therefore, the risk of infection is only with direct contact with the patient.

The life span of live individuals of head lice is more than a month. Daily growth of parasites is about 4-10 eggs (nits). The period of their incubation is about 7 days, a maximum of one and a half weeks. Human lice, although they are close relatives, are different from those that parasitize mammals.

The diagnosis is made when the presence of nits, yellow-white small balls, which are firmly attached to the hair shaft, is evident. There are a huge number of funds for the treatment of head lice: from state-of-the-art pharmacy pediculicidal preparations to "grandfather" methods.

Dressed head lice appears mainly on the skin of the groin, armpits, lower back and abdomen. Infection can occur through the household, through contact with bedding and clothing. Body lice hide in folds, seams of clothes, where they lay their eggs, so the lesion is usually just around the collar, waist, armpits.

Attention!
Hanging pediculosis, in part, is a seasonal disease, as it often occurs in the cold during prolonged wearing of the same clothes (on hikes, on tourist trips), and in addition, the disease of the disadvantaged sections of the population and the homeless. They usually treat it by shaving all the hair in the groin, armpits, chest and destroying clothes.

Pubic pediculosis is caused by the appearance of pubic lice with claws like a crab (flat) on the human body: genitals, skin of the pubis and armpits. If the human hairline is very pronounced, the disease will quickly switch to other parts of the body, including the ears and facial hair - eyelashes, eyebrows, mustaches, beard.

You can get it during intercourse, or when using unclean linen, personal hygiene products. Therapies for pubic lice can be varied, but the vegetation of the affected parts of the body most often has to be shaved off if therapy has to be done on its own.

Under favorable circumstances, head and pubic pediculosis can be treated with insecticidal herbal preparations, and in unfavorable conditions, with hair shaving.

The difference between clothes lice is that with it, lice lay nits on clothes, and not on human hair, therefore, to destroy eggs, it is enough to treat the clothes with the same insecticidal repellents or boil them.

The same products are suitable for removing lice from the body as for the hair of the groin and head.

Symptoms

The first sign of infection is an unusually severe itching of the scalp, which is caused by a caustic substance secreted by lice and saliva during bites.

The second sign is their eggs, which are glued to the hair with a special sticky mass - they are light and look like small sesame seeds, often confused with dandruff flakes. With an advanced disease, the symptom will be a general nervous state, scratching, possibly with pustules, boils in places, but these are more likely complications.

Important!
Red allergic spots, bright bluish traces of their bites, combed wounds with crusts, but most of them are hidden under the hair, but only those that are closer to the neck, open areas of the skin near the ears, at the temples, eyebrows.

When pediculosis is started, the anterior ear lymph nodes are usually inflamed - this already indicates the presence of infection in the lymphatic tract - infection and complication of the disease.

If you notice symptoms of head lice, you should seek professional treatment from a specialist! In just two hours, we will manually get rid of head lice and nits, check family members for these parasites and give detailed recommendations on how to avoid re-infection.

In this case, we will use only environmentally friendly products that allow you to effectively dissolve the glue with which the nits are attached to the hair.

Your health and beauty are in safe hands! Be sure, contacting the “Lyce Avey” clinic, the problem will be solved in a short time.

Diagnostics

The above symptoms are the reason for a professional diagnosis by a dermatologist. The specialist performs a physical examination of the sites of scratching and stains in the patient using a magnifier with a 4-fold increase or a Wood lamp on the skin of the head, body, and, if necessary, inguinal region.

If the clinical manifestations are confirmed and the doctor discovers white nits attached to the roots of the hair, which burst with a click, and in some cases the lice themselves, filled with blood, then he makes the diagnosis of “pediculosis”.

After making a diagnosis, the doctor prescribes a comprehensive treatment: special shampoos, combing with a comb, ointments to treat scratches and bites, and in cases of infection in the wounds - antiseptics.

A visual examination of the child’s head in preventive measures can be carried out by parents at home or kindergarten teachers, however, pediculosis can be confused with an unprofessional look both with dandruff and with seborrhea, scabies, impetigo, therefore, to accurately determine the type of disease, contacting a specialist is preferable.

Diagnosis of pediculosis with the subsequent consultation of a dermatologist (pediatrician) is mandatory for pregnant women, nursing women, as well as young children, since inexperienced self-treatment can be harmful to health or lead to complications.

Complications

The most common complication is infection. With untimely treatment of pediculosis, a person manages to comb the scalp to small open wounds, where a bacterial infection is introduced on the nails.

Advice!
The wounds fester, the temperature rises, the lymph nodes swell, antibiotics are required. Complicating an infectious disease is most dangerous for pregnant women in whom it can lead to a miscarriage.

Characteristic infectious diseases:

  • Blepharitis, conjunctivitis - inflammation of the eyelids, mucous membranes of the eye;
  • Lymphadenitis - inflammation of the lymph nodes;
  • Furunculosis - purulent inflammation of the hair follicle;
  • Allergic dermatitis;
  • Sepsis is a blood poisoning.

The most dangerous complication associated with mortal risk is epidemic typhus ("ship" and "prison fever"), which threatens to damage the nervous and cardiovascular systems, or even death.

Lice can be a carrier of this acute infectious disease, which penetrates the human body with secretions of their intestines also through skin lesions.

A typical symptom of the disease is chills, accompanied by fever, severe headache, muscle pain, scarlet rashes. The epidemic of typhus is unfolding in parallel with pediculosis, so their isolation is traditionally important in the treatment of typhoid patients.

Relatively harmless complications of head lice can be called insomnia, tangled hair and an abundance of nits on them. With this development of events, treatment begins with shaving long hair at least to the shoulders in order to reduce the front of combing work. In certain cases, with a very advanced disease, the hair is completely shaved off.

Means and methods of destruction

Mechanical methods. The most effective and safe mechanical method that is easiest to defeat lice at home is combing hair with a special comb according to the Shepherd method.

The hair is checked by strands, while previously they can be applied special tools that stain nits and lice themselves to simplify their search and selection manually.

Attention!
This technology allows you to quickly and completely remove insects and their eggs from the head, while maintaining the health of hair and skin. The method has proven itself in the treatment of pediculosis in children, pregnant women, people prone to allergies.

Combing is a very competitive method of dealing with lice, because studies show that these parasites are able to develop resistance (immunity) to certain chemicals. In addition, no substances will remove nits, which will remain stuck to the hair in a dead form.

It is quite difficult to independently comb out, especially if there are no specialized tools at hand, but only a balm, a comb and a cotton swab. It is better to entrust this procedure to professionals, but in any case, with pediculosis, treatment should be organized quickly.

Lice are very prolific creatures and multiply rapidly by laying eggs - and the larger the area of infection, the more painstaking is the work to remove them.

In the role of excipients, such accessible compositions as vegetable olive, corn, rapeseed, geranium oil, fish oil are used - they increase the efficiency of combing nits, making the curls slippery, in the role of auxiliary substances - a comb, a magnifying glass, a lamp.

For the combing stage under the brand name Neath Free, special products are produced that, on both dark and light hair, dyes the nits in a bright color.

There are several other very effective mechanical methods - this is shaving bald, using a hair dryer with hot air, tongs to straighten hair or electronic rowing.

Heat treatment with a hairdryer or forceps is a very effective option, because lice can not withstand temperatures above 40 ° C, die from electrical discharges, and also can not live without hair.

Chemical drugs. It is possible to independently carry out the treatment of pediculosis with the help of more or less safe chemical drugs from the pharmacy, they do not give a full guarantee, but together with combing, they are very effective.

Important!
Most pharmaceutical preparations are based on natural insecticides (pesticides). They are sold without a prescription in various forms - it can be shampoos, aerosols, lotions, gels, ointments, solutions, emulsions, balms.

They may include various active toxic substances, as well as their combinations that destroy the nervous system of parasites: phenotrin, permethrin (pyrethroid - synthetic pyrethrin), malathion.

Medical drugs based on insecticidal chemicals work well, but do not have ovicidal properties - that is, they affect mainly lice, not nits.

Treatment with insecticides even of low toxicity cannot be applied to young children 2-5 years old, pregnant women, nursing women, people with skin diseases and bronchial asthma, while the latter spray is strictly prohibited.

Chemical agents should also include synthetic products, the active substances of which are dimethicone and cyclomethicone. Such drugs act mechanically on lice and nits, enveloping them with a thin silicone film and blocking the flow of air.

The effectiveness of synthetic products is not 100%, but very high, since without oxygen parasites die very quickly at all stages of development, but their components can easily cause allergies, therefore, before using these drugs, you need to consult a doctor.

It is absolutely necessary to consult a doctor for a prescription or recommendations if the child is not yet 2 years old, after trying to get rid of lice, an allergic reaction has occurred on his skin, if the child is asthmatic.

Treatment of head lice with the use of chemicals should be in a well-ventilated area, it is recommended to apply the compositions on dried or dry hair according to the instructions, in plastic or rubber gloves, the patient's head should be wrapped with a towel at eye level, after application, the hair should be rinsed with a solution of vinegar.

Advice!
Before applying the product, hair and skin should not be washed with conditioner, as it is poorly washed off from them and does not allow chemicals to be absorbed.

The most well-known medications that have a neurotoxic effect on lice:

  • Para-Plus is an aerosol based on two permethrin and malathion insecticides and piperonyl butoxide, an auxiliary reinforcing component — one kills lice, the other acts on nits attached to the hair root, and the third enhances the action of permethrin and prevents parasites from developing resistance to active substances. Para-plus is applied for 10 minutes, is contraindicated in children under 2.5 years old, can be reused.
  • “Nyx” - a shampoo with a low concentration of permethrin insecticide, but with a long action, can be used as prescribed by a pediatrician for children, pregnant women, allergy sufferers, as prescribed by a dermatologist for persons with skin diseases, but strictly according to the instructions on the package.
  • "Reed" - shampoo based on permethrin insecticide, can cause allergies and side skin effects, with relapse can be reused after 7 days.
  • Medifox or Medifox super is a permethrin-based drug, produced in the form of a gel and concentrate, applied to the hair for 30 minutes.
  • "Pedilin" is a preparation based on the chemical phosphorus-organic insecticide malathion and the synthetic insecticide tetramethrin, with two components at the same time effectively acting on lice and nits, is available in the form of a solution, emulsion, gel, applied for 3-5 minutes.
  • "Nittifor" is a long-acting drug based on permethrin, produced in the form of a lotion that is applied to wet hair for 40 minutes and a cream that lubricates skin and dry hair for 10 minutes.
  • "Spray-Pax" - an aerosol based on a combination of the components of the natural insecticide pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide, can be used in the treatment of head and pubic lice, applied for 30 minutes.

Folk methods and means. Folk remedies can be divided into four groups according to the similarity of the principle of action. In these groups, you can add funds using plant extracts, compounds with acidic and alkaline environments, asphyxiating agents, as well as highly toxic hazardous compounds.

The first group includes decoctions and plant juices, essential oils that kill or scare away living individuals, but can not cope with nits.

It is quite difficult to defeat pediculosis by treating with herbal decoctions of geranium, wormwood, chamomile, needles, tansy, pomegranate juice with mint, etc., since they are ineffective, although they have antibacterial anti-inflammatory properties.

Essential oils of tea tree, anise, peppermint, oregano, sage, rosemary, lavender, garlic are also not very effective.

According to numerous reviews, in most cases the use of such herbs in the treatment does not give the desired effect, but for prevention they are very good, they can be poured into ordinary shampoos.

Juice of minced garlic cloves is ineffective, requires repeated application during the week, in children it causes severe skin irritation, in the flesh before burns.

Truly effective herbal remedies are decoctions of poisonous plants of hellebore, ledum, angelica, fern. They are natural insecticides and kill lice well, but for humans they are not safe.

Attention!
Therefore, they must be used carefully - if the broth concentration is not correct, it is easy to get poisoning. Chemeritsa is better to use in the form of a pharmacy solution - “hellebore water”.

The second group includes natural and household household chemicals, which with their aggressive acid or alkaline environment not only destroy living lice, but also partially destroy the chitinous membrane of nits.

These are means of medium efficiency, they significantly accelerate the treatment of pediculosis, but are only auxiliary in the mechanical selection of dead parasites. It can be the sour juice of cranberry berries, which damages the shell of nits and dissolves the glue on which they hold.

High-alkaline dust soap is a non-progressive agent that is toxic in composition to living individuals of many parasites, and is very toxic to humans. Tar soap, which has not only a high concentration of pH 9-11, but also tar can heal the skin.

Laundry soap with 72% fatty acids and a very high pH of 11-12, which in addition has antibacterial properties. Paint with hydrogen peroxide, if you are ready to dye your hair - it corrodes both lice and nits.

Another group should include drugs and drugs that act on the principle of enveloping parasites - they deprive them of oxygen. This can be like natural fatty compounds like mayonnaise, artificial compounds like petroleum jelly - they also act like silicones.

In theory, they are very effective, but it all depends on the quality of the composition. So, mayonnaise and similar natural thick compounds work correctly, but their density is less than synthetic, and it may not be enough to strangle lice and their eggs in one go.

The fourth group includes radical toxic and corrosive substances: gasoline, kerosene, vinegar, alcohol, obsolete dichlorvos. They are far from intended for the treatment of pediculosis, and are extremely contraindicated in children and pregnant women.

Important!
Such funds can be effective, but can cause skin burns, burns of the mucous membrane, a strong allergic reaction, lead to discoloration of the hair or even their complete loss.

Often use low concentration table vinegar, a couple of its spoons are dissolved in a glass of 250 ml, the resulting solution is applied to the hair. Acetic acid should kill most of the lice and dissolve the sticky substance on which the nits are held.

Alcohol 96% is also used, it is diluted halfway with water, impregnated with a gauze compress, which is applied to the hair and skin, after which a cellophane bag is put on the head for 30-40 minutes.

Burning fluid should act immediately on lice and nits, and also have an antibacterial effect on the comb. For the complete destruction of parasites, the application of alcohol must be repeated several times, avoiding falling into the eyes and inhaling vapors.

Compresses are also made with kerosene, they rub their hair and also put a bag on their heads. Toxic fumes should poison lice at any stage of their development, but also fumes and the composition itself, getting on the skin poison the human body.

Dichlorvos is even more poisonous, it is universal for various insects, it is especially effective for cockroaches, but it causes a lot of side effects and therefore has not been used for a long time in household and household: inhalation of vapors leads to dizziness and vomiting, with severe intoxication convulsions occur, you can lose consciousness.

Since no traditional and traditional treatment methods do without manual removal of live and dead parasites, the safest approach is to use specialized herbal preparations that do not cause side effects, neutralize lice themselves, dissolve glue from nits and facilitate combing of parasites with curls.

Together with them can be used fluorescent highlighting compositions that increase the efficiency of combing at times.

Preventive measures

The main and only measure to prevent individual infection with lice is hygiene.

Advice!
If you wash daily, change your underwear and underwear, make regular bedding changes, use only your hygiene items and accessories, a hair clip, hair clips, “crab”, a scarf, a hat, a towel, etc., wear a short haircut, then it’s very likely we can say that parasites do not threaten you.

The main prevention in a children's institution is an annual medical examination, it is carried out in the fall before the start of the school year, when children return from vacation and usually bring various infections, including lice.

If in a large team at least one person is already sick, then quarantine is always announced among the rest of its members to prevent an epidemic.

This is a very effective measure that helps stop the spread of lice in the local group, and the quarantine period, even with the fastest treatment, can be up to two weeks, because lice hatch and die without a host in a seven-day period.

This amount of time is enough to find out if someone else is infected. If there are several infected people in the team, quarantine can not be declared, but it is important to carry out treatment at the same time to prevent a relapse of the disease.

Sanitation is the final stage of treatment and an important part of prevention.

After the destruction of live lice and the removal of nits from the hair, the damaged skin is disinfected with mercury ointment, combs and combs that were combed out are soaked in an alcohol solution, the patient’s clothes and bedding are impregnated with gentle insecticides, then they are washed at a high temperature of at least 60 ° C, and if possible boil.

If it is impossible to heat treatment, things are stacked in plastic bags and are not used for more than 2 weeks. Sanitary treatment can be initiated by the doctor of the clinic in which the child was examined.

Attention!
The doctor is obliged to notify the district sanitary and epidemiological station, whose specialists travel home to the child, examine his family members, including parents and close relatives, and disinfect the premises as necessary.

In preventive measures, clothes are treated with natural repellents, of which the most popular Nit Free rosemary and menthol spray, furniture, carpets and rooms are vacuum cleaned and treated with A-pairs, Bug Terminator.

For personal protection, head hair is regularly inspected for nits, a little tea tree oil, lavender, anise, thyme, lemon balm is applied to the skin, daily use natural shampoos, conditioners and gels, which include essential oils of mint, rosemary, whose aroma repels lice.

Organophosphorus compounds, sulfates and pesticides are not part of the natural means of treatment and prevention of pediculosis, therefore they are suitable for any type of skin and can be used daily.

Pediculosis: how to treat and what is dangerous?

Many of us thought in childhood that lice were the scourge of dysfunctional families. Growing up, we hope that simply observing the basic rules of personal hygiene in the family will allow us to protect ourselves and our loved ones from this unpleasant problem.

However, while all the stereotypes regarding the asocial nature of pediculosis have long been refuted by numerous studies, then lice themselves are by no means harmless insects akin to mosquitoes or midges.

A florid Latin name hides a number of serious and unpleasant consequences that could jeopardize the well-being and health of your family. We will figure out what lice are dangerous for children and adults and how to treat head lice without harm to health and discomfort.

The danger of lice infection exists at any time of the year, both in adults and in children. But the autumn season is traditionally considered the most active period of outbreaks in cities, when children returning from sanatorium-improving camps fall into the school team.

As you know, children do not yet have strong immunity, which is why the lice epidemic is especially dangerous for them.

Important!
One sick child is enough to instantly infect dozens of children in a group or class. In turn, returning from school, children quickly infect other family members with whom they are in close contact.

The increasing risk of catching a disease in the fall is also associated with a general weakening of immunity due to the lack of vitamins and colds. If a disease is detected, it is necessary to act decisively and begin treatment as soon as possible.

Symptoms

If there are certain signs, it is usually not difficult to conclude that the infected person has lice: the symptoms of pediculosis are quite easy to notice. The constant itching of the scalp is one of the first and main signs of lice and their violent life.

The cause of the itch is the saliva of insects, which they inject under the skin of the victim to prevent blood clotting. A person on whose head lice began to parasitize becomes nervous, irritable, loses his appetite, and is poorly concentrated.

Often the wearer combs the skin to the blood, trying to get rid of itching. Unhealed painful crusts form on the head. Combing can also be accompanied by hair loss, because nails can damage weak bulbs.

Combing the scalp, patients can introduce infection into the resulting wounds. Because of this, subfebrile (37.0–37.5 ° C) temperature or swelling of the lymph nodes can become side effects of pediculosis caused by infection of scratches.

Why are lice dangerous?

Pediculosis is not just an unpleasant disease that creates a certain discomfort. Lice are dangerous to humans by a number of physiological, psychological and even social factors.

Lice themselves, being blood-sucking parasites, carry a lot of dangerous and serious diseases, as well as a number of pathogenic parasites of a smaller order. The consequences of head lice pose a danger to the health of any person, however, people with weakened immunity and children are most vulnerable.

Advice!
Allergies and inflammations. In open wounds from combing fall waste products of insects. The ingestion of lice feces into the human body can cause allergic reactions, dermatitis, furunculosis and folliculosis, eczema and pyoderma, or purulent inflammation of the skin.

Due to the fact that in advanced cases, lice can begin to parasitize the entire scalp, lice often become causative agents of staphylococcal infections of the eyes (for example, blepharitis).

Coarsening of the skin. In addition to combing, lice bites can cause local coarsening of the skin due to prolonged exposure to insect saliva. Constant hemorrhages in the upper layer of the dermis and a constant inflammatory process can cause a patient to change skin pigmentation or melanosis.

Often, due to the constant combing of itchy skin, the hair on the head gets lost in the so-called curl. In this case, purulent discharge from non-healing wounds on the patient's head glues the hairs together, forming a dense crust, under which the wounds begin to get wet, which only exacerbates the inflammatory process.

Infectious diseases. It is a mistake to believe that the problem of epidemics of such a dangerous disease as typhoid is associated exclusively with body lice and has nothing to do with the modern civilized world.

Indeed, today it is known for certain that head lice are not carriers of typhus, from which at the beginning of the last century more people died than in the numerous wars of tsarist Russia and Turkey.

However, do not forget that lice parasitizing on the head are carriers of typhoid fever, as well as masses of other pathogens that enter our body through waste products of the insect.

Chronic lice. Launched cases of pediculosis can acquire chronic forms and torment a person for several months and even years of unsuccessful treatment.

Attention!
The process of combating parasites is complicated by the ability of insects to quickly adapt to drugs and toxic drugs, which causes constant relapse of the disease.

Gradually, foci of lesions with pediculosis can appear on the body, and the head louse, after several generations, can also create a population of clothes parasites. To avoid such sad consequences, it is extremely important to start timely treatment with an effective and safe remedy.

How to treat head lice?

Today, there are many ways to quickly and safely get rid of head lice without the use of toxic and toxic substances. There are many ways to treat pediculosis, however, any of them without fail suggests that dead or living insects, as well as still not hatched nits, will be mechanically removed from the patient’s head.

Particular attention should be paid to prevention, because diagnosing pediculosis is not as problematic as treating. Lice - if infection cannot be avoided - are displayed in the following ways:

Mechanical combing. The most reliable and safe way to remove lice from your hair is to systematically comb them with a frequent metal comb from lice and nits with steel teeth. To simplify the procedure, you can shampoo lice from natural ingredients.

It does not kill parasites, but breaks down the substance by which nits are glued to the hair, thereby accelerating combing and reducing the patient’s discomfort to zero. Thanks to the right comb and shampoo, hundreds of thousands of people around the world successfully treat pediculosis at home.

Electric combs. However, combing is often complicated by the fact that even a short period of parasitization of insects on the head can lead to serious skin lesions.

If wounds, crusts have already formed on the head of the child or adult, as well as if changes in the epidermis are noticeable to the naked eye (pigmentation disorders, etc.), the use of chemicals and even touching the rounded teeth of the comb will cause discomfort in the patient and may aggravate the problem .

Important!
In such a situation, it is recommended to treat pediculosis using ridges, the design and principle of operation of which do not require direct contact with the skin.

Similar properties are possessed by electronic combs from lice and nits RobiComb and RobiComb Pro from the American company LiceGuard. Combing with an electronic comb is carried out on dry hair, which does not require any treatment beforehand.

Spot electric discharges destroy lice and adult nits without any pesticides or silicone-based products, and combing is facilitated by the sound of a comb. In addition, the electronic comb is absolutely safe and does not cause discomfort or pain due to its competent design.

Pest control

If you found lice in time and managed to take all the necessary disinsection measures before scratches and crusts appeared that contribute to the development of pathogenic organisms in the wounds, use a mechanical comb with steel teeth to remove adult insects and nits, methodically combing the hair along its entire length.

Remember that only the complete removal of all parasites from the hair and household items surrounding you will avoid relapse and the dangerous consequences of head lice.

Do not neglect thoroughly combing your hair and do not interrupt the course of procedures earlier than the specified time, because effective and timely treatment, as well as regular preventive checks, will preserve the health and safety of your family for a long time.

Pediculosis treatment at home

Pediculosis is an extremely unpleasant disease that causes a feeling of disgust. Small insects sucking human blood do not cause special love in anyone.

Moreover, erroneously on a lice a label of a disease of homeless, dysfunctional people was pasted. In this regard, suffering from head lice is considered shameful.

Advice!
Anyone who sees lice on their hair will prefer to shut up this fact. Hence the widespread prevalence of head lice - people, not knowing that there is a carrier of tiny parasites nearby, do not take precautions.

In addition, everyone knows that it is not necessary to run to the clinic when pediculosis appears. At the current level of development of pharmacology, it is quite possible to treat pediculosis at home.

How to get rid of adversity

There are two ways to eliminate the disease. The first - you can buy a special remedy against lice at the pharmacy. The basis of these drugs can serve:

  • malathion;
  • permethrin;
  • fenotrin.

Usually, the product is applied to the hair for a short time, after which it is washed off with water. Then the hair is combed out with a comb with frequent teeth.

Sometimes a special scallop is already attached to the package with the drug. The procedure is repeated after a week. This is due to the fact that the release time of new insects from eggs is approximately a week from the time of laying.

During the second procedure, all lice that could only remain and those that hatched again are destroyed. Plus, these drugs in a variety of forms (emulsions, creams, lotions, shampoos, aerosols), simplicity and convenience. In addition, they do not leave a smell.

If conventional medications are not suitable

However, the use of pharmacological agents of this series is prohibited in children under five years of age, patients with bronchial asthma, nursing mothers, and pregnant women.

Important!
For patients with asthma, a way out was invented. Cyclomethicone, which is the basis for the most modern means, without any damage to health will relieve lice. And the eggs are also combed out with a small scallop.

Children up to five years old can be cut hairless. For pregnant and lactating mothers, a combing method is suitable. Combed out in stages.

  1. We wash hair with shampoo, slightly dry.
  2. Apply hair conditioner. Air conditioning immobilizes lice.
  3. We comb out the hair with a comb with large teeth, then with frequent ones.
  4. We clean combs under running water from stuck lice.
  5. Dry your hair again.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5.

Lice is a contagious disease

Pediculosis or lice is a contagious disease caused by parasitization of three types of lice on the human body. The danger of pediculosis is that insects can be carriers of some serious diseases - typhus or relapsing fever.

Causes

Pediculosis is caused by three types of lice:

  • head lice, live on the scalp, mustache, beard, eyebrows and eyelashes,
  • body lice, live on the body and in skin folds relating to clothing,
  • pubic lice or ploshchits live in the area of pubic hair.

Lice can breed only in heat, when cooled below 15-10 degrees, they die. Pubic and head lice lay nits on the base of the hair, body lice lay eggs in the folds of clothing. A week later, larvae hatch from them, ripening and feeding on blood. Adults live up to 40 days.

Methods of infection

The source of infection is only a person, pediculosis transmission is carried out with close contact in organized groups, public transport, the use of common things and bedding, for pubic pediculosis - sexually transmitted infection.

The incidence of pediculosis is widespread, the chances are especially high in countries with low sanitary culture. The incubation period with lice for about a week, the intensity of the symptoms depends on the degree.

Manifestations occur due to bites of skin lice on the head or body, resulting in symptoms of pediculosis.

Symptoms

Head lice - manifested by intense itching in the head, due to which the patient constantly scratches his head.

Examination of the scalp reveals areas of skin damage at the site of bites with bright yellow "honey" peels, as well as signs of folliculitis - inflammation of the hair follicle, eczema-like skin lesion on the back of the head, at the temples and behind the ears.
