How to get rid of wasps in a wooden house

Hello! Both laughter and sin sometimes happen to my neighbors. Yesterday, Irina literally ran into my yard.

It turns out she has no salvation from wasps. I asked at least somehow to help her. Judging by her descriptions, there is already at least one large hornet's nest there. Went to save her wooden house from the invasion.

So in the end it turned out. The fight against striped harm was successful, the neighbor was saved. Want to learn how to get rid of wasps in a wooden house? How to prevent their reappearance? The article below sets out in detail.

How to get rid of wasps in the house

In more or less large cities, residents of apartments struggle with wasps quite rarely. Although if we consider the statistics of visits of pest control services, even here, homeowners sometimes have to think about how to get rid of wasps on the balcony or loggia, where insects arrange their nests.

Important!
If we talk about summer cottages and private houses, then problems with wasps are much more common here, even though these insects, in general, bring certain benefits, destroying small garden pests in large quantities.

Be that as it may, there are certain situations, one might even say - the rules are when you need to get rid of wasps.

So, you definitely need to get rid of wasps in the house in those cases when they settle in the attic, balcony, under the slope of the roof, near the utility rooms of the summer cottage, that is, in all those cases when insects arrange their nest in close proximity to humans and roads his possible movement around the site.

To someone, a hornet’s nest, hanging, say, under the roof of a barn, may seem quite harmless. Well, think of it, hanging and hanging, if you do not touch it, then there will be no problems.

But you need to take into account the fact that you can never be sure in advance exactly how the wasps will respond to a person who is just a few meters from the nest. Sometimes they begin to actively defend their home, attacking with a swarm. Now imagine that a small child decided to walk along a path near the nest, and even without his parents' supervision ...

Remember: wherever a hornet’s nest is present, a person is in danger of being bitten for no apparent reason. And at best, it will be a single insect bite.

In rare cases, the wasps dwellings can not be touched - for example, if the site area is so large that its owner does not intersect with winged neighbors.

To reliably get rid of wasps, you must first find out the reason for their appearance: whether they fly into a house or a plot just in search of food, or have already built their nest here. Fortunately, this is not so difficult to do: the main sign that wasps really made a nest on the site or in the house is their consistently large number for no apparent reason (no grapes, fallen apples or pears, raspberries).

It is important to understand that it is possible to kill several wasps actively flying near the house, of course, using an ordinary fly swatter, but this is unlikely to save the situation, since there can be hundreds of them in the nest (or nests). Therefore, in such cases, the only reliable way to get rid of wasps is to destroy all their nests in the country.

However, in order to get rid of wasps, they still need to be able to find their nest ...

Aspen Nest Search Rules

To build their nests, wasps choose, firstly, inaccessible places, and secondly, quite closed from prying eyes.In nature, these requirements are usually met by hollows, spaces under the branches of trees (in the thick of foliage), and sometimes even burrows in the ground ("earthen wasps"). In the absence of such places, insects sometimes mount their houses directly on the open branches of trees, or simply build them in the grass.

As for the neighborhood with people, our summer cottages are simply ideal places for equipping hornet's nests. So, for example, in summer cottages, these insects usually choose:

  • rarely used utility or household premises, such as sheds, toilets, attics (here the nests are located directly under the ceiling, and it is not difficult to get rid of them);
  • niches under the slate;
  • places where the cladding of the building moves away from the walls;
  • balconies, loggias;
  • heaps of unused junk;
  • dense bushes or hedges.

Of course, to check all the objects suitable for arranging the nest is difficult even in a small area. That is why for a long time summer residents had come up with a simple, but no less effective way to track wasps.

Advice!
The essence of this method is that in any open place (for example, on the veranda) a piece of fish or meat is laid, on which insects will readily fly. Further, only attention and observation are required from the owner of the site: most wasps will ply between the nest and the treat, and thereby help a person determine where their house is.

Finding a nest directly in a house or on a balcony is much easier. Here, usually immediately, without lengthy observations, one can see where the wasps fly most often: in most cases, they prefer to place their dwellings in the spaces between the walls and the casing (necessarily - with direct access to the street), in gutters and behind air conditioners.

It is not always possible to get directly to the nest itself - for example, if it is located somewhere inside the wall of the house. Sometimes you can only see the entrance to the space, somewhere in the depths of which is located the dwelling of insects. However, in order to get rid of wasps, the detected input is quite enough.

Withdrawal Rules

Wasp nests in summer cottages, in apartment buildings and private houses are destroyed by the same methods. However, there are a number of nuances that you must know about before liquidation of wasps:

  • it is unacceptable to use fire to burn the nest when it is located on a tree or in a wooden structure (wherever the dwelling of insects is located, it will burn strongly, and the fire can easily spread to combustible materials);
  • one must carefully prepare for the “operation” and dress appropriately (this will be discussed below), since if something goes wrong, wasps can seriously bite their offender;
  • It is possible to start independent disposal of wasps only after the neighbors in the nearest rooms have been notified about this - it is necessary that they shut their windows and do not go outside for the duration of all the procedures.

The whole subsequent process is a matter of technology. You just need to choose the most suitable and safe method and implement it correctly, which we will talk about later.

You can get rid of the wasp nest in the country by burning it - this is a very quick and effective method, which, however, is not always possible to implement.

Wasps build their house from chewed bark of trees. The structure of this material resembles cardboard, and therefore it takes a few seconds for it to completely burn. All that is needed to get rid of the hive wasps in this way is to pour gas on it and set it on fire.

However, despite the fact that this method seems very simple at first glance, there are serious limitations regarding its applicability. So, for example, it is strictly forbidden to use fire if the nest hangs on a wooden ceiling or is under combustible cladding - in these cases the likelihood of a fire is too high.

The extermination of wasps in the country by burning their nests is safe only when the dwelling of insects is located in the ground or on a stone wall. Sometimes this method is also used in large warehouses and industrial enterprises, where there are no flammable objects within a radius of a few meters from the nest.

Speaking about this and any other contact method of getting rid of wasps, one cannot fail to say about precautionary measures. In no case should you approach the wasps without protective equipment.

A universal way to deal with wasps is to use insecticides. With their help, you can get rid of wasps in the apartment, house and in any other place.

So, in order to get rid of wasps with the help of insecticides, it is necessary to "go through" several stages. First, you need to purchase a powerful drug in a specialized store (you can also use the Internet). For this purpose, tools such as:

  • Lambda Zone;
  • Get
  • Cucaracha;
  • Executioner;
  • Actara;
  • Sinusan;
  • Karbofos;
  • Diazinon;
  • Tetrix

and some others. All these drugs are available in water-soluble form, and for the preparation of a working solution, it is enough to dilute them according to the instructions.

Next, you need to prepare a dense plastic bag of such a size that it fits the entire nest, and then pour at least 200 grams of a prepared solution of the purchased drug there.

Attention!
Finally, at the third stage of getting rid of wasps, the insecticide packet is sharply put on the nest so that the insect flight is blocked. If the house was hanging under the roof of the house, then the neck of the package should be glued to it with tape, and if it is located on a tree, the neck is simply pulled over the nest and then wrapped with adhesive tape or rope.

The package with the insecticide can be removed only after 2-3 days - this time should be enough for all wasps to die. Nevertheless, for fidelity and your own safety, before directly removing the package, you should knock on the nest through it: if you do not hear a buzzing response, then the wasps are dead.

If the wasps arranged their dwelling in the ground, in the hollow of a tree, behind the sheathing of a house or in a drainpipe, you should try to fill the prepared drug in their shelter so that it falls on the nest itself. The exit from the nest should be blocked (for example, with a cloth soaked in an insecticide solution) so that the insects could not get out of the trap.

We drown in water. Using this simple method, you can get rid of wasps if their nest is located in the ground, or hangs under a canopy or under the roof of a house, for example, in the attic.

In the first case, so much water is quickly poured into the "hole" in which the wasps dwelling is located so that it begins to flow out (it is best to use a garden hose for this).

Use a limited container of water, such as a pot or bucket, in this case is not worth it, because the hole may be very deep, and there may not be enough water to fill it. After pouring water, the outlet from the nest should immediately be covered with a stone.

However, sometimes this method does not work: water is gradually absorbed into the soil, and insects break a new exit from the ground.

The implementation of the second option of destroying the nest when it is under the roof of the house is more complicated and requires special training. The essence of the method in this case is that the nest is completely immersed in a bucket filled with water, the edges of which are tightly pressed against the ceiling.

From below, the bucket should be supported by some object: a ladder suitable in height or, for example, a board. Duration of keeping insects under water - at least a day.

The difficulty here is:

  1. the whole structure can turn out to be very unstable and fall apart, because of which all the work will be destroyed;
  2. the surface to which the insect dwelling is attached is far from always so smooth that a bucket of water can be pressed firmly against it, and if there is a gap, angry wasps will find a way out of the trap.

The use of poisoned baits gives very good results, and allows you to reliably get rid of wasps on the territory of a summer cottage or, for example, in the attic of a house, on a balcony - wherever their nest can be found. This method is perhaps the safest for humans and simple enough to implement.

Important!
The first step is to prepare the bait. Beer with sugar or sour jam are ideal for wasps and hornets, in which several grams of any of the following insecticidal preparations are added: Get, Lambda Zone or Delta Zone (at worst you can do with ordinary boric acid, however, in this case it will be lower).

After thorough mixing, the poisoned bait is poured in a saucer or any other container and is displayed in a prominent place on the site.

An important point in the implementation of this method of disposal of wasps is that the container with the bait must be placed out of the reach of pets and children.

The easiest way to hang it, for example, on a tree branch: households will remain intact, but all the wasps that will fly to the bait from the entire area will die within a few hours. If the nest is located in the attic, then the container with the bait is enough to place nearby - and soon there will be a “carpet” of dead insects under the nest.

You can not use honey as a bait: bees can also fly to it. Beer (or sour jam) will attract only wasps and hornets.

The poisoned bait needs to be updated every few days until the wasps in the area have completely disappeared.

Wasp and hornet traps

A trap for wasps and hornets is, in fact, the same bait (not necessarily poisoned), placed in a special container from which insects that have flown can no longer get out. Such a device can be bought in stores for gardeners, or made with your own hands - the efficiency of the trap will be high in any case.

Making a trap for wasps on your own is not at all difficult, you just need to know the technology. To create it, you need an ordinary plastic bottle, in which the lid is twisted and the upper third is cut off. The bait is poured into the lower part of the bottle, after which the upper half is turned over and inserted down into the lower neck.

Advice!
In order to get rid of wasps with the help of a trap, it should be hung on a tree or wall of the house (insecticide or boric acid can be added to the bait poured inside, although this is not necessary).

Strange as it may seem, wasps crawling into the neck of the bottle, by virtue of simple instincts, can no longer find a way out. Therefore, once every few days, it will be necessary to shake out a large number of dead or still alive wasps and replace the bait as necessary (if there is an insecticide in the bait, it is much easier to shake out the insects - they will all be dead).

We call a special service

The least time-consuming way to get rid of the wasp nest on the balcony of a city apartment or in a summer cottage is to call a pest control service. In this case, the owners of the house will not have any worries: all the work will be performed by professionals with the necessary protective clothing and special equipment.

Services for the destruction of wasp and hornet nests cost an average of 1,500 rubles for apartments and 2,500 rubles for summer cottages. As a rule, after completing work, the pest control guarantees that insects will not reappear in the house or garden for at least six months - that is, until the start of the next warm season.

The same companies that provide appropriate services for the destruction of synanthropic insects, as well as rats and moles, will help get rid of wild wasps. In some cases - if there are no such companies in the village - these works can be carried out by SES or firefighters.

However, when calling representatives of the SES or the fire department, you should not count on a quick and 100% exit: assistance in the destruction of wasps is not their direct responsibility, therefore they provide such services only if they manage to agree.

Personal precautions

In conclusion, as promised above, we will address the issue of personal protection in the fight against wasps in those cases when it was decided to destroy the nest. This topic is really very important, because health and, in some cases, human life is at stake.

So, in order to get rid of wild wasps in the country or in the house and at the same time not to suffer from their bites, you must follow certain safety rules:

  • All work must be carried out in dense clothing with long sleeves, a beekeeper’s mask and tight gloves.
  • Destroy the nest only at night, when all members of the aspen family are inside and are inactive.
  • During the procedure, in no case can you kill a single flying wasp, even if they bite you - when you die, the insect secretes special substances that excite relatives and can provoke an attack of the whole swarm.
  • In case of failure and a mass departure of wasps from the nest, one should retreat without sudden movements, wait a few hours, and only after this proceed with the procedure.

There are times when it is necessary to drive the wasps from the site or from the house only for a while. For example, if they were attracted by the smell of fish when cooking, or fly around the table with fruits and sweets.

In such situations, all the methods of getting rid of wasps described above, of course, do not make sense - here it will be enough to turn on powerful fumigant repellers, ignite permethrin-based checkers or special insect spirals.

Attention!
Often, to drive the wasps out of the house, people simply wave them off with a newspaper or a towel. However, this is not worth doing - with a high degree of probability, these manipulations will only make the insects angry, and will not at all lead to the desired disposal of them.

In conclusion, we note an important point: it is possible to lime wasps on the site quickly, but if the insects do not bother you constantly and do not pose a direct threat, then it is better not to touch them. It makes no sense without good reason to exterminate these assistants in the fight against agricultural pests.

Thus, if the wasps did not build a nest on the site, and only occasionally look for food here, they should learn to coexist peacefully, because in this case they will not bring much harm. If the close proximity with wasps really poses some kind of threat, then now you are adequately prepared to be able to quickly eliminate it.

Useful tips: how to get rid of wasps

Wasps can be useful in the garden - they pollinate flowers, but at the same time they cause a lot of inconvenience when their nest develops near your house or on the balcony. Then you have no choice but to get rid of them. There are ways to protect against wasps in the house and on the street, the portal Kakprosto.ru reports.

Method 1. Fly swatter. The easiest and most direct way to kill a wasp in a single instance is to slap it with a fly swatter. However, it has its drawbacks, as there is a risk of being stung by a wasp trying to protect itself.

Method 2. Vacuum Cleaner. If the wasp is weak and slowly crawls, you can get rid of it by sucking in a vacuum cleaner, or driving it out of the house with a broom. But this method is suitable in early spring, when wasps begin to come out of hibernation. They are usually slow and sluggish, easier to catch.

Method 3. Clean Food and Drinks. Flowers, food and drinks can attract wasps. You will help yourself get rid of uninvited freeloaders by hiding food in containers and drinking (including alcohol) under a tightly screwed lid, as well as removing a flower vase from the dining table away. If you use sweet or floral perfumes, shampoo, lotion and soap, there will be more wasps around you.

Method 4. Home Insecticide. Do-it-yourself home remedy for wasps with peppermint essential oil.

Mix 2 cups of water with 30 drops of peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle. Such a spray will save you from wasps and their nests. The product is absolutely harmless and can be applied to the skin if you are overpowered by wasps.

Important!
Method 5. Soap solution. Mix 2-4 tbsp. tablespoons (30-60 ml) of shampoo or liquid soap with hot water (500 ml) in a spray bottle. The combination of these two components will instantly kill the wasps when you sprinkle this solution directly on them. Soap envelops the wasp and dehydrates it.

Method 6. Spray with a special remedy for wasps. The chemical industry produces such funds. They are quite effective in dealing with wasp nests and with those wasps that have settled in hard-to-reach places of your home, for example, in a gap.

A large amount of the product is sprayed into the slot or slot. After about an hour, the wasps die, but be careful - some may still be alive, no need to climb into the nest or crevice with your hands. Many insecticides are toxic to humans and, if used improperly, are harmful to the environment.

Method 7. Trap for wasps (purchased). Buy a trap and place it in a place with a large concentration of wasps. Periodically, it must be replaced with a new one as soon as it is full. The bait contains chemicals that smell good for wasps. Hang the trap as far as possible from the living quarters.

Method 8. Trap for wasps (do it yourself). Cut a 2 liter plastic bottle across. One half of the bottle (which has a neck) should be much smaller, and the second (with the bottom) should be deeper. Pour sugar water, a sweet drink into a half of the bottle (with the bottom) or put a piece of meat.

Wipe the neck of the bottle along the edges with vegetable oil. Insert the half of the bottle (which is with the neck) into the second half (with the bottom) with the neck down. The trap is ready. You can hang it by making holes for the cord along the edges.

Before emptying a trap, freeze it or pour boiling water into it to destroy the remaining living wasps.

Method 9. Get rid of the nest. Wasps are conservative insects, even if you knock down and destroy their nest, then soon a new one may form at this place or nearby. But destroying the nest will still not hurt, since a new generation of wasps will soon appear from it.

Advice!
Tie a bag tightly around the nest and leave it to lie under the sun for a while. Or cover the nest with a cloth, tie it into a knot, and lower it into water.

It is advisable to get rid of the nest closer to the night, when wasps are less active. Try to do everything in the dark, because wasps will respond to light from a flashlight promptly.

If you already had wasps last year, they will fly again

Wasps build their nests under the roofs of cottages and private houses, thereby causing significant concern to the owners. Let's not forget that wasps are very active carriers of intestinal infections, as fly everywhere, including in garbage cans, in search of sugar-containing products, and then they may well land on a plate of already washed fruit on your table.

If you already had wasps last year, then in this they will fly again. In late May and early June, wasp scouts fly in search of a suitable place for a nest, and they really love places where hornet nests were previously.

It is very difficult and also unsafe to get rid of wasps by conventional means. wasps are very insect-sensitive insects, and if you decide to destroy them with some kind of aerosol, then you risk making big trouble yourself ...

The use of baits is fraught with the fact that wasps from adjacent areas flock to the smell of atractant (a substance that attracts insects).

One useful advice for those who are building a house or doing major repairs in the apartment.

It is much easier to do preventive treatment at the construction or repair stage, as long as there is access to places that will later be covered by boxes, panels, etc., but will remain accessible to insects. Thus, you will protect your home in advance from the invasion of “uninvited guests”, as well as protect wooden structures from pests of wood.

Attention!
Destruction of wasps should occur in conjunction with the removal of wasp nests. If you poison the wasps, but not destroy the wasp’s nest itself, which it was probably not possible (or there was no desire) to find, then such work will be in vain, and, as they say, money is wasted.

Fighting wasps must be done in the evening, when all wasps fly to their nest for the night, then there is more chance of getting rid of wasps. If the procedure for the destruction of wasps is done in the morning or in the afternoon, when most of the wasps fly apart, then the nest remains almost empty.

Removing an empty nest will expose yourself to sufficiently long attacks by returning wasps, as these insects are very vengeful. The consequences of such attacks can only be guessed at.

You can get rid of wasps yourself using a tool designed to fight wasps. You can contact the pest control services.

Funds from wasps

You can use a chemical insect repellent such as Troapsil (Trapsiel, Netherlands) - a professional insect repellent.
Aerosol "Moskitol Protection against wasps" - designed for the effective and long-term destruction of wasp nests and wasps on the street and in non-residential premises (sheds, attics, open verandas).

You can carefully process the nest itself and especially the entry point into it with the “Gett”. Wasps, crawling into the nest, will surely bring microcapsules of the drug there, from which they themselves and the entire population of insects will die. If the nest itself is not accessible, but you notice where the wasps creep, for example, under the roof, then treat this place profusely, the effect will be the same. Wasps will die in a day - two.

“Bold” (Smell-no: Netherlands) microencapsulated insect repellent, odorless. It is intended for self-destruction of blood-sucking and synanthropic insects: mosquitoes, bugs, fleas, cockroaches, ticks, flies, wasps, ants, etc. It is a odorless, microencapsulated preparation with a long duration of up to 8 months.

A few more ways

Traps from plastic bottles - we cut off the neck on the shoulders (label), turn it over and, pouring the sour compote into the bottle, insert the cut part with the neck down into the bottle.

Important!
It helps spraying curtains or other linen decorations on doors or windows with vinegar. It is better to find out first with family members whether they like the smell of vinegar and whether they are allergic to vinegar.

German Velcro - left without a name and company, alas, the happy owner did not have the label, and they already ended in the store.

Leftovers and crusts from a delicious melon sprinkled with Sherpa, Intavir or some other insecticidal nonsense without a pungent and pungent odor (not Dichlorvos or other sprays). All this was left on the compost heap and gave so many wasp corpses that the inventor was shocked.

Chemical methods - Dichlorvos, Super-Cobra (spray from flying insects), but there is a danger of being bitten by half-drunk wasps. Then, if you decide, put on very tight clothes, gloves, etc. to fill the nest, remove it and completely destroy it.

Flooding nests in the ground (if you find them) with boiling water. Not always effective from a pot or teapot, there is not enough boiling water there. If you have a summer water supply system and the water in it is approaching the state of boiling water on a sunny and hot day, then these nests with an expensive soul can be poured from the hose. After that, it is best to fill the nest (it looks like a mole) with earth and ram it.

The most famous and easiest way: take a glass jar, pan or bucket (depending on the size of the nest), fill the container with water to the edges and carefully bring it from the bottom to the nest so that it is completely immersed in water. "Water procedures" should last about five minutes.

During this time, the nest will completely become wet, and the wasps sitting in it will die. To prevent stinging drowning wasps from helping you, wear gloves and a mosquito net. You can put a plate with sugar syrup or jam in advance at a distance of 3-4 meters from the nest. All wasps will be there and will not interfere with a “sweep”.

Wasps often make their nests in places where it’s impossible to climb into a pan or bucket. In this case, a different method may be used. You need to take a plastic bag, put it on the nest and press it firmly against the wall (ceiling, rafters, etc.).

Advice!
You can glue it with tape or push pins. Then cut a corner from the bag and spray any insecticide inside. Close the hole in the bag and leave the "gas chamber" for about an hour. After that, remove the bag and tear off the slot.

To prevent wasps from returning to the old place of “dislocation,” they should scrape off the nest from the nest with a knife and treat it with a solution of potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide, spray it with any available insecticide and hang a masking tape for the most annoying insects.

First aid for a bite victim

Make soda lotions - in a half glass of water dissolve 1 teaspoon of soda, soak a cotton swab and apply to the wound; take an antiallergic drug (suprastin, diphenhydramine, diazolin, etc.), and with a very strong reaction, the hormonal drug hydrocortisone.

Some recommend immediately after stinging, rub the wound with garlic, onions or parsley - this should relieve swelling; You can attach a cotton wool with ammonia diluted with water 1: 5.

If a bite develops edema of the facial tissues, bronchospasm, frequent palpitations, cramps, pain in the lower back, joints, heart region - without losing a second, call an ambulance.

How to get rid of wasps in the house

Crawling along the walls, sitting on food, drowning in sweet syrups: wasps feel like real masters. However, their proximity can spoil life. After all, insects not only buzz peacefully while flying about their business, but can sting if necessary. How to get rid of them?

Why are they dangerous

Many people come to terms with wasps if they have arranged their nest in the wall outside the house and spend most of the time on the street, flying in only by chance. Such a passive position is a bad choice, because wasps pose a serious danger. They are:

  • pose a health risk. The bites of these insects are not only painful, but also cause irritation, redness of the skin, and swelling. Some people suffer from allergic reactions to wasp stings, which can trigger anaphylactic shock;
  • are carriers of infection. Like any other insects, wasps are not too squeamish. In search of sweets, they creep with equal zeal both in the garbage dumps and on the master's table. As a result, intestinal infections of a seemingly inexplicable origin;
  • destroy the crop. If there is a garden or garden near the house, then wasps will help to get rid of it. Grapes, raspberries, apples, gooseberries, pears are the favorite treats of insects. Small fruits of a wasp just eat, in large ones they gnaw tunnels and excavations, making the fruit unsuitable for eating.

Despite the fact that the wasps are quite dangerous, you do not need to shy away from them, like from fire. This will only inflame the insect. Once in the zone of attention of the wasp, you should step aside without making sudden movements. Especially advice is relevant for children who are more sensitive to bites than adults.

Destroy the nest

As long as there is a nest nearby, wasps will be able to breed, so the destruction of the "house" should be a priority in the fight against insects.The best time for this is spring or late autumn, when wasps leave their nests. But since insects are most active in the summer, they get rid of them most often during this period. The operation must be carried out:

  • late in the evening or at night when insects are inside it;
  • in the dark: wasps are very sensitive to light and arouse at the sight of a flashlight;
  • in closed clothes and a face mask to avoid bites.

You can learn about the location of the nest by following the flights of working individuals. The easiest way to do this: in a prominent place to put a plate with minced meat and wait. A flying wasp will capture a little "treat" and go with it to the nest.

When reaching the place of residence of the wasps, it is necessary to put on a tight package on the nest and tie it at the place where the nest is attached to the surface. Then you need to make a small hole in the bag and spray the wasps with an insecticidal spray, for example, Dichlorvos. 15 minutes later the bag with the slot should be removed and discarded away from home. As an option, the nest can be scalded with boiling water or simply burned without using an insecticide.

Attention!
To prevent insects from returning to their favorite place, you need to wipe it with vinegar, potassium permanganate or peroxide. The smell will scare away wasps.

It is much more difficult to get rid of nests located out of reach: under the roof or near the eaves. Then you need to "work" on the hornet tunnels. You should find small holes in the walls with a width of about 5 mm and, when it gets dark, treat the moves with a spray. Among the most effective remedies for wasps are such names:

  1. Wespex The drug is made in Germany. The average cost is 420 rubles. for 500 ml. It acts instantly and retains the effect for a long time;
  2. Etisso. It is made in Germany. Price - 600 rubles. for 500 ml. It has a long action. Destroys both flying and creeping insects;
  3. Bros Polish production. On average, the cost is 300 rubles. for 300 ml. Instant, lasting a few more days.

After treatment with a spray, you need to caulk the holes with pieces of cotton soaked in an insecticide: for example, Cypase or Fufanone. The completed moves should be plastered by adding a small amount of karbofos to the plaster. But even after such procedures, you still need to get rid of the nest. If you can’t do it yourself, you should call the sanitary service.

Set traps

You can either buy a trap or make it yourself. In the first case, it is recommended to pay attention to the following items:

  • Swissinno wasp trap with bait. Estimated cost - 650 rubles. The bait is poured into the trap, a little water is added. Then the trap is hung out on the street at a distance of 10 m from the wasp nests. From time to time, you need to add water there so that the insects are constantly in a drowned state. When the trap is full, the bait should be replaced;
  • package wasp trap from Argus Garden. Russian production. Cost - 100 rubles. The trap can be placed both outside and indoors. As a bait, food fillers should be used: jam or sweet syrups. The trap is effective against wasps, but not bees;
  • trap for wasps Remiling WT-220. The average price is 275 rubles. Safe for people and pets. The trap is filled with a small amount of bait and placed away from home. Once in it, wasps cannot get out.

As an alternative to traps, an wasp repeller, for example, WK-0432, can be used. Outwardly, he imitates a hornet's nest. Having noticed the repeller, insects believe that the territory is already occupied and leave it. Cost - 750 rubles.

A homemade trap is no less effective than a purchased one, but it saves money. Cut off the top of a regular plastic bottle. The lower half must be filled with bait: pieces of meat, candied water, jam. The bottle neck must be lubricated with vegetable oil.Then you should connect both parts of the bottle by inserting the top with the neck down. The trap is ready.

An even simpler trap is made from sweet melon. The fruit must be cut in half and sprayed with an insecticide, and then placed at a slight distance from the wasp nests. The main thing is that pets do not show curiosity and do not decide to find out which melon tastes.

It is necessary to get rid of wasps: this is exactly the case when pity does not justify itself. If independent efforts were unsuccessful, then the sanitary service will definitely be able to destroy wasps and restore a quiet life to the inhabitants of the house.

Eliminate wasps in hard to reach places

If you find that wasps too often circled around you, you need to urgently check to see if they made a nest somewhere nearby at home or in the house itself. If, unfortunately, you find a hornet’s nest, then you need to get rid of it as soon as possible.

Important!
Wasps can not only sting painfully, but they are also carriers of dangerous infections. In addition, you can never predict their reaction to the appearance of someone near the nest. You can go past their nests for weeks safely, but one day they will decide to sting for no reason.

And, a completely harmless walk past, say, a barn with a hornet’s nest can turn into a tragedy if they suddenly decide to attack with a swarm.

Common nesting places

Wasps love to build their homes in close proximity to food sources. Therefore, more often than not, they build their nests directly on or near the house.
To build a nest, they most often choose a part of the building where you can easily attach the nest and, at the same time, no one will bother them especially:

  • under the roof of a house or barn;
  • in the attic;
  • in the utility rooms;
  • in any buildings on the site;
  • under the skin, if it does not fit snugly;
  • in hedges;
  • in a pile of old rubbish, etc.

Therefore, if you find wasps, be sure to carefully check all the buildings on your site and low-visited parts of the house and niche to be sure that you have found all the hornet's nests.

If you weren’t able to see the nest, but the number of wasps suggests that they still live nearby, then put a piece of meat or fish on the street and watch the wasps. They will most likely fly between feed and their home and you will easily find their settlement.

Folk remedies

Folk remedies work quite effectively, and a variety of methods will help you choose the one that is most acceptable and convenient for you.

Fumigation using smoke or aerosols is an effective method and helps drive wasps out of their homes, and then safely get rid of the nest. Using natural ingredients (such as gum) can also scare away wasps from their home.

Kerosene, gasoline, or other petroleum products have long been used to destroy wasps, but recently, wasps have become less susceptible to kerosene. Flooding the nest with water or boiling water will quickly get rid of the unpleasant neighborhood.

How to get rid of wasps under the roof of the house using the package:

  • You need to take a strong plastic bag;
  • Throw it on the nest, completely covering it with it;
  • Tear off the nest, quickly and tightly close the package;
  • Burn the nest.

How to get rid of wasps in the house with the help of a package and dichlorvos:

  1. You need to quickly spray the entire surface of the nest with dichlorvos (or another substance) and quickly throw a plastic bag on it, tying the place of attachment;
  2. Wait 1 or 2 hours;
  3. Tear off the nest, quickly and tightly close the package;
  4. Burn the nest.

Kerosene Nest Treatment:

  • It is necessary to take a large enema, a syringe or a spray and fill it with kerosene;
  • Departing to a safe distance, you need to process a fully hornet's nest;
  • If the wasps did not fly away from the nest the first time, then the procedure must be repeated until they fly away;
  • When the wasps leave the dwelling, it can be removed and burned. Try not to breathe kerosene yourself.

How to get rid of wasps in a private house using water. If the nest is located in such a way that you can put it in a bucket of water, then this method will help you quickly get rid of the dangerous neighborhood with wasps.

  • So, you should dress in tight clothing that completely covers all parts of the body;
  • Pick up a full bucket of water;
  • Raise the bucket so that the nest is completely submerged in water;
  • Keep the nest in a bucket for 5-10 minutes, during which time it will have time to get wet and the wasps will drown;
  • Remove the soaked nest and destroy it.

Make sure that someone can change you if you get tired of your hands holding a bucket or build some kind of stand under it.

In rainy weather, usually all wasps are in the hive and they are inactive, so it is easier to fight them without the risk of being stung. There are two ways that can be effective in the rain:

  • Pour boiling water over the nest, you can from the kettle. Try to protect yourself from scalding with boiling water. Boiling water will need a large amount and immediately. Then the socket can be removed.
  • Knock down the nest in a bucket or large container of water, where they drown.

With the help of baits

Bait can be a fairly effective method to reduce the number of wasps, but it is quite difficult to completely remove a colony using this method.

Watermelon Peel Bait. Spread in several places on the plot, including on a compost heap, peels from watermelons or melons, previously moistened in an insecticide in the form of a odorless gel. Wasps will eat the crust and die from the action of the chemical.

Bottle lure:

  1. We take a large plastic bottle, cut off the top with a neck (about ¼);
  2. Pour something sweet there (the more viscous this substance is, the better, for example, old sour jam, stale fresh meat, beer with sugar, etc.);
  3. Add a vial of any insecticide there (possible from any insects);
  4. We close the bottle with the cut part, turning it upside down;
  5. We put this bait on the site and wait until the wasps fly into it.
  6. Having eaten, wasps simply can’t get out of the bottle or die, even being able to get out.

With the help of improvised means

You can try to get rid of wasps with improvised means that are always in the house or, if necessary, buy something missing.

How to get rid of wasps in the attic of a house with an insecticide:

  • It is necessary to make a solution of equal amounts of cypermethrin and actellik (5 ml of each substance in 1 liter of water);
  • Spray hornet settlement and cover with a packet;
  • After 2-3 hours, you can carefully cut the nest, tying a bag tightly;
  • Destroy the nest.

This method is suitable if the wasps settled in the ground or under the floor, in which case you just need to fill the solution with the entrance to the nest. If necessary, repeat the procedure after some time.

How to get rid of wasps on the roof of the house using aerosols or caustic solutions:

  • It is necessary to spray or spray the nest with a product;
  • Cover with a bag, tying it at the base;
  • Leave for a while, up to 3 hours;
  • Cut the nest and destroy it.

Dichlorvos works well for this method, but only the usual one, which has no odor on the wasps, acts badly, according to the reviews of experienced summer residents. You can also use Domestos, Chlorine, or WD-40.

How to get rid of wasps in a private house by fumigating a nest with smoke from needles. If the nest is found indoors and you have a potbelly stove, you can use this method:

  • Melt a potbelly stove with fresh needles;
  • Put the stove so that the chimney is directed directly to the nest;
  • Smoke the nests until all wasps fly away from home;
  • After the wasps fly away, the nest can be removed.

How to get rid of wasps in the house in the country with the help of gum:

  • Take the red rope;
  • Spread it gum thickly (sticky resin in places of damage on fruit trees);
  • The rope must be hung near the entrance to the nest;
  • Wasps should leave their home in a few weeks.

If the roof is made of heat-resistant materials, then you can simply treat the nest with hairspray and set it on fire.The varnish will close the wasps in the nest, and the flame will quickly destroy them.

By means of polyurethane foam. Everything is very simple, if you have a can of foam filled with mounting foam, then simply douse the nest completely with foam on all sides, including the entrance. Leave for several weeks, during which time the wasps will die of starvation and the nest can be removed.

Advice!
To prevent wasps from flying into the house, you can spray curtains, doors, windows, etc. with vinegar. This smell will scare away wasps and they will stop flying into the house. Processing must be repeated as the vinegar wears out.

A hornet's nest in the ground can be destroyed by a mortar of concrete. True, then the concrete hat will have to be removed along with the nest.
